Job description

About Moby

Moby is changing the way people invest. We use AI to transform the world’s financial data and research into clear, actionable reports that anyone can understand. Our mission is to build the largest and most accessible investing research library in the world.

We already reach over 30 million people each month across our social channels and content platforms—and we’re just getting started. With a growing base of engaged users and hundreds of reports already live, we’re looking to expand our editorial bench with a talented, market-savvy Investment Writer.

The Role

We’re hiring an Investment Writer to join our editorial and research teams. In this role, you’ll be the go-to voice for maintaining and updating our stock coverage—keeping our investment reports timely, accurate, and actionable as price targets are hit or narratives evolve.

In addition to stock coverage, you’ll contribute to broader macroeconomic explainers, earnings season recaps, and occasional opinion pieces. You should be comfortable reading earnings reports, monitoring economic indicators, and distilling complex themes into content that feels approachable for retail investors.

We value clarity, brevity, and voice. Our tone is casual, witty, and insight-driven—and we want someone who can write like a human, not a robot.

This is a full-time role. Preference for candidates based in or willing to occasionally commute to New York City for in-person collaboration, but we’re open to remote candidates as well.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage ongoing coverage of stocks within our portfolio—including updating reports, price targets, and outlooks as needed

  • Track key milestones like earnings calls, rating changes, or price movements for relevant companies

  • Write macroeconomic explainers, earnings season summaries, and broader market updates

  • Distill financial statements, investor presentations, and macro data into reader-friendly content

  • Collaborate with research analysts, editorial leads, and leadership on coverage strategy

  • Support timely news updates when relevant, and help ideate new report formats or content series

  • Maintain our tone: confident, casual, and clear—without dumbing it down

Job requirements

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of investment or financial writing experience with published work samples

  • Experience covering public equities, macroeconomic trends, or earnings season

  • Strong understanding of financial statements, valuation metrics, and investor psychology

  • Excellent writing and editorial judgment with an eye for what matters to readers

  • Demonstrated ability to write with both speed and quality under deadline

  • Comfort collaborating across teams—especially with research, product, and leadership

  • Experience at a financial publication, newsletter, or research platform is a strong plus

  • Editing experience or willingness to contribute to peer editing is a bonus

  • Preferred: Based in or willing to commute to New York City for hybrid collaboration
