We already reach over 30 million people each month across our social channels and content platforms—and we’re just getting started. With a growing base of engaged users and hundreds of reports already live, we’re looking to expand our editorial bench with a talented, market-savvy Investment Writer.
The Role
We're looking for a Senior Writer/Editor to join our growing content team and help shape how we communicate about markets and finance. This role is perfect for someone who can translate complex financial concepts into engaging, conversational content that resonates with our audience. You'll be both a hands-on contributor and a mentor, working closely with our Head of Content to build a world-class editorial team and establish our newsroom culture.
Responsibilities
Content Creation & Strategy
Write compelling, accessible content about markets and finance in Moby's distinctive conversational voice
Develop and execute content strategies that engage our audience and drive business objectives
Stay on top of market trends, news, and developments to create timely, relevant content
Collaborate with product and business teams to create content that supports company goals
Editorial Leadership
Edit and refine content from team members and external contributors
Establish and maintain editorial standards, style guides, and best practices
Mentor junior writers and help develop their skills in financial writing and storytelling
Provide constructive feedback and guidance to help team members grow
Team Building & Culture
Recruit, onboard, and develop editorial talent
Help establish newsroom processes, workflows, and culture
Contribute to building a collaborative, high-performing editorial environment
Lead by example in demonstrating Moby's editorial values and standards
Job requirements
Qualifications
Experience & Background
3+ years of experience in financial journalism, content creation, or related field
Proven track record of writing about markets, finance, or business topics
Experience editing others' work and providing developmental feedback
Background in building or contributing to editorial teams or newsrooms
Skills & Abilities
Exceptional writing skills with the ability to make complex financial topics accessible and engaging
Strong editing capabilities with attention to detail and story structure
Ability to write in a conversational, authentic voice that connects with readers
Understanding of financial markets, investment principles, and economic concepts
Experience with content management systems and digital publishing workflows
Personal Qualities

Based in or willing to relocate to New York City with ability to work in office 3-4 days per week
