About Moby

Moby is on a mission to transform how people invest. We ingest the world’s financial data and research and apply AI to distill complex information into simple, accessible, and actionable investment reports. Our goal is to build the world’s largest and most useful investing research library.

In addition to our research platform, we operate a thriving editorial desk, reaching more than 30 million investors every month with timely news, analysis, and content across channels.

We recently closed our seed round and are rapidly expanding. Now, we’re looking for a world-class creative leader to take our brand and design to the next level.

The Role

We’re seeking a Vice President of Brand and Design to lead the creative vision for Moby. This is a foundational leadership role responsible for shaping and scaling our brand, product design, and creative output across all touchpoints.

You’ll act as both a hands-on contributor and strategic leader—helping us define the visual identity of a category-defining company while building a best-in-class design organization from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the Moby brand identity across platforms (web, mobile, marketing, social, and product)

  • Lead the design of all user experiences across our app and website, ensuring best-in-class UX and brand consistency

  • Develop a unified visual language, from illustrations and animations to typography and motion design

  • Collaborate closely with product, marketing, and editorial teams to deliver cohesive, compelling creative across channels

  • Translate complex financial and investment concepts into simple, engaging visuals and data visualizations

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing design and creative team

  • Establish scalable design systems and creative processes for long-term growth

  • Represent design at the executive level and play a key role in brand and product strategy

Job requirements

Qualifications

  • 8–12+ years of experience across brand, digital, and product design, with 3+ years in a creative or design leadership role

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in visual design, user experience, and creative storytelling

  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams across graphic design, product design, motion/animation, and brand

  • A deep understanding of how to translate business goals into creative strategies

  • Experience working in high-growth startups or fast-paced environments

  • Passion for finance, technology, or education is a plus—but not required

  • Based in or willing to commute to New York City for hybrid collaboration
